Kerala Mother of Four, 47, Shatters Age Barriers by Clearing NEET, Proves It's Never Too Late
Kerala mother, 47, clears NEET after 28 years

In an extraordinary display of determination that has captured the nation's attention, a 47-year-old mother of four from Kerala has proven that age is merely a number when passion meets perseverance. Bindu PS, a resident of Thiruvananthapuram, has successfully cleared the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), reviving a medical career dream she had shelved nearly three decades ago.

The Journey Back to Dreams

Bindu's story is one of delayed dreams and remarkable resilience. Having completed her Class 12 in 1994 with aspirations of becoming a doctor, life had other plans. Marriage and motherhood took priority, and her medical ambitions remained unfulfilled - until now.

"My children were my first priority for many years," Bindu shared, reflecting on her decision to pause her educational pursuits. "But the dream of wearing that white coat never truly left me."

A Family United in Support

What makes Bindu's achievement particularly special is the unwavering support from her family. Her husband, PS Suresh Kumar, works as an assistant surgeon at the Government Mental Health Centre in Peroorkada, while her eldest daughter is pursuing her house surgency after completing MBBS.

The medical connection runs deep in the family - her second daughter is currently studying MBBS at Government Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram, and her younger son is preparing for his own NEET attempt. Even her youngest, in Class 9, witnesses firsthand that educational dreams have no expiration date.

Overcoming Challenges with Grace

Returning to academic rigor after 28 years presented significant challenges. Bindu had to relearn subjects and adapt to a changed examination pattern while balancing her responsibilities as a mother and homemaker.

"The syllabus had changed completely since my time," Bindu noted. "But I approached it with the same dedication I've always given to my family. This time, I was determined to give that same commitment to myself."

An Inspiration Across Generations

Bindu's achievement sends a powerful message to women across India who may have put their professional aspirations on hold for family responsibilities. Her story demonstrates that it's never too late to pursue one's dreams and that education and self-fulfillment can be pursued at any stage of life.

As she prepares for the next chapter of her medical journey, Bindu stands as a living testament to the power of perseverance, family support, and the enduring nature of dreams.
