Ludhiana Educators Receive Prestigious Recognition During Republic Day Celebrations

In a significant ceremony marking the 77th Republic Day celebrations at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), several of Ludhiana's most distinguished educators were formally honored for their exceptional contributions to academic infrastructure and social welfare initiatives. The district administration, under the leadership of Punjab minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, organized this special recognition event to acknowledge the transformative work being done in the local educational landscape.

Excellence in Higher Education Leadership

Among the distinguished awardees was Suman Lata, principal of the Government College for Girls in Ludhiana, whose institution achieved a remarkable milestone under her guidance. The college secured a prestigious NAAC 'A' Grade with an impressive CGPA of 3.22, representing the highest score among all government colleges across Punjab. This achievement reflects not only academic excellence but also comprehensive institutional development.

"I humbly dedicate this award to the entire team and students who have worked tirelessly to make this possible," stated Suman Lata during the ceremony. She emphasized that beyond academic accomplishments, her college has prioritized cultural preservation through the establishment of 'Virasat Ghar'—a dedicated space specifically designed to celebrate and maintain Punjabi heritage and traditions.

Community-Focused Educational Transformation

Kawaljot Kaur, principal of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) in Ayali Khurd, received recognition for her dual role as both an educator and community leader. Since assuming her position in 2016, she has successfully secured corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding that has enabled significant infrastructure improvements at her school. These enhancements include the addition of ten new classrooms, modern sanitation facilities, and upgraded water stations, substantially improving the learning environment for students.

Deputy commissioner Himanshu Jain specifically commended Kawaljot Kaur for her active participation in recent flood-relief operations, demonstrating how educational leaders in Ludhiana are extending their impact beyond school boundaries to address broader community needs.

Veteran Educator's Lasting Legacy

The honors also extended to Pardeep Kumar, principal of GSSS Smart School at PAU, whose educational career spans back to 1997. Kumar was recognized for his lifelong commitment to improving school infrastructure through innovative community partnerships. "During my previous posting at Ghadiyana Kalan, local villagers actively joined our efforts to completely overhaul the school's facilities," Kumar recalled, highlighting the collaborative approach that has characterized his work.

He further expressed his dedication to continuing these efforts even beyond his retirement, stating, "I intend to maintain this momentum of community-driven educational improvement regardless of my official status."

Broader Recognition of Educational Excellence

Other notable figures from the education sector who received honors included Rajinder Kaur, principal of the Government School at Daad village, and Manoj Kumar Jambla, an official from the education department. These awards collectively underscore a growing trend of 'Smart School' initiatives throughout Ludhiana, where principals are increasingly leveraging both community support and corporate partnerships to supplement government funding and create more comprehensive educational environments.

The Republic Day ceremony at Punjab Agricultural University thus served not only as a celebration of national pride but also as a platform to highlight the innovative approaches and dedicated leadership that are transforming Ludhiana's educational institutions into models of academic excellence and community engagement.
