Mandya district has clinched the number one position in Karnataka's recent state-wide educational and social survey, a feat attributed by top officials to the relentless work of teachers and field-level staff.
Grassroots Efforts Drive Success
Deputy Commissioner Kumara, addressing a gathering on Thursday, emphasized that while senior officers provide direction, the true execution and success of government initiatives rest on the shoulders of employees at the grassroots level. He was speaking at an event organized by the Karnataka State Government Employees Association's Bengaluru District Branch at the zilla panchayat's Cauvery Hall.
The event combined a grievance redressal meeting with workshops on the HRMS 2.0 software and the Karnataka Arogya Sanjeevini Scheme, aimed at Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) and case workers.
Clearing Dues and Expanding Health Coverage
Providing significant updates, the Deputy Commissioner assured the district's over 18,000 government employees that pending medical claims under the Arogya Sanjeevini health scheme are being processed on priority. In a major announcement for healthcare access, he revealed plans to significantly increase the number of empanelled hospitals under the scheme in Mandya from three to twelve.
On the financial front, he delivered crucial news for the educators involved in the survey. The district administration received Rs 7.6 crore designated as honorarium for these teachers. Demonstrating swift action, Rs 7 crore has already been transferred into their accounts. Kumar noted this required his personal approval of more than 2,500 files to expedite the process.
The remaining Rs 63 lakh was delayed due to a technical snag but is now slated for disbursal within the next week. He urged all DDOs to ensure timely salary payments and to master the new HRMS 2.0 platform for smoother administrative operations.

The function saw the presence of key district officials including Zilla Panchayat CEO KR Nandini, Superintendent of Police Mallikarjuna Baladandi, and the association's president K Nagesh. Their collective presence underscored the cross-departmental recognition of the survey achievement and the ongoing efforts to support government staff through better grievance redressal and modernized systems.
The top ranking in the survey highlights Mandya's focused approach to educational and social metrics, powered by its frontline workforce. The administration's concurrent focus on clearing financial dues and enhancing health infrastructure points to a broader agenda of employee welfare and efficient public service delivery.
