Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, on Saturday, highlighted the state's focused efforts, which include introducing skill-based training and strengthening the parent-teacher partnership model.
Skill Development and Community Engagement Take Center Stage
The minister revealed that the administration has launched specialized skill training programs in 40 government schools across the state. This initiative aims to equip students with practical abilities alongside conventional academic knowledge, enhancing their future career prospects. Furthermore, the government is actively organizing mega Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) to foster a collaborative environment for student growth.
Harjot Singh Bains made these announcements while attending one such mega PTM and workshop at the Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Sri Anandpur Sahib, Ropar. He interacted directly with parents and educators, emphasizing the transformed landscape of government education in Punjab.
Celebrating Academic Excellence and Changing Perceptions
The minister proudly stated that students from Punjab's government schools are actively changing the public mindset by securing remarkable success in highly competitive national examinations. He specifically cited outstanding performances in NEET, JEE Mains, and JEE Advanced.
"The achievements of our students in these tough exams are a testament to the rising standards," Bains noted. To honour this excellence, the event saw special recognition being given to meritorious pupils. Students who excelled in the 10+2, matriculation, middle examinations, and sports were awarded for their accomplishments.
A Direct Appeal to Parents for Continuous Involvement
During his interactions, Minister Bains made a heartfelt appeal to parents. He urged them to become an integral part of their children's academic journey by actively participating in mega PTMs. He stressed the importance of maintaining continuous contact with teachers to monitor and support the child's progress effectively.
Bains also advised parents to encourage their children to pursue higher education aligned with their personal interests and passions. This, he believes, is crucial for building a fulfilling and successful career path.
