Ranchi: Schools across the city gradually resumed classes from Monday after the summer vacation, bringing back students eager to reconnect with classmates and teachers. While government schools reopened on Thursday and private schools followed suit from Monday, educators are now focusing on academic progress, curriculum completion and holistic student development.
Officials and educators said the post-vacation period will focus not only on academics but also on co-curricular engagement, skill development and student well-being.
Academic Goals and Parent Involvement
Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) director Shashi Ranjan said schools must now pick up pace to meet academic goals. “This phase requires attention to overall academic progress, curriculum completion and skill development together. We will hold parent-teacher meetings in June, where they will be briefed about strategies for the academic year. Schools should adhere to the split syllabus plan so that lessons are completed in a timely and structured manner. Parents also need to be sensitised and actively involved in the learning process,” he said.
Category-Wise Strategies
Kiran Yadav, principal of DAV Nirja Sahay School, said they have prepared a category-wise strategy. “For senior students, extra classes will be conducted to accelerate syllabus coverage. For classes III to VIII, an annual academic calendar has been prepared with activities such as mirror talks, extempore and declamation competitions, alongside regular classes. For junior students from nursery to Class II, practical worksheets given during the vacation will be discussed this week to rebuild classroom connections and ease them back into learning,” she said.
Focus on Holistic Development
Manisha Sharma, principal of Sarala Birla Public School, said the holiday period allowed students to relax and rejuvenate. “Now it is time for focused effort and holistic development. We have started the session with lively outreach and engagement activities so that students return refreshed and motivated to take up the syllabus,” she said.
“The vacation helped us relax, but it feels good to be back in school. I am looking forward to new subjects, competitions and spending time with friends while preparing for the academic year ahead,” said Arav Kumar, a Class VI student of a private school.
