Tragic Sea Incident in Puri Claims Two Lives, One Student Missing
A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Puri on Monday as three BBA students from Rourkela faced a devastating tragedy while bathing in the sea. The students, identified as Karan Prasad (20), Anirban Guru (21), and Rajveer Singh Sandh (21), were caught in a powerful current during their outing.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The trio had traveled to Puri accompanied by Karan's elder brother, who remained on the shore and did not enter the water with them. While bathing, they were suddenly overwhelmed by strong sea currents that pulled them away from safety.
Lifeguards at the location sprang into action upon noticing the distress. They managed to rescue Anirban Guru and Rajveer Singh Sandh from the turbulent waters. Both students were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Fatal Outcome for Rescued Students
Despite the lifeguards' swift response and medical intervention, doctors at the hospital declared both Anirban Guru and Rajveer Singh Sandh dead upon arrival. The tragic loss of these young lives has sent shockwaves through their communities.
Rajveer Singh Sandh was cremated in Puri following the incident, while Anirban Guru's body was transported back to Rourkela and cremated on Tuesday, allowing family and friends to pay their final respects.
Ongoing Search for Missing Student
As of Wednesday, search operations continue for Karan Prasad, who remains missing and untraced since the incident. Rescue teams have been working tirelessly along the Puri coastline, hoping to locate the 20-year-old BBA student.
The incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by sea currents, particularly during monsoon season when water conditions can change rapidly and unexpectedly.
