Two Minors Drown in Agricultural Pond in Doddaballapur

Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, two minors, including a girl, drowned in an agricultural pond in Doddaballapur Rural, police reported on Friday. The victims were identified as Daksha M, 11, and her neighbor Dhanush P, 4. The children were returning home with their cows when they waded into the pond. Their parents began searching for them after noticing their prolonged absence and discovered their bodies in the pond late in the evening.

Police have registered a criminal case of causing death due to negligence against the pond owner, Guru Murthy. An investigating officer stated, There was no proper fencing around the pond, which was filled with rainwater. Following the incident, police recorded a video urging villagers not to wade into ponds and lakes to prevent further tragedies.

Sikkim Woman Murdered by Boyfriend in Bellandur

In a separate incident, a 22-year-old woman from Sikkim, working as a receptionist in a salon in Bengaluru, was allegedly murdered at her residence in Doddakannahalli, Bellandur on Sunday. The victim, Ati Hangma Subba, was killed by her boyfriend Purba Lepcha, a hotel waiter, who slit her throat after suspecting her fidelity. Police have arrested the accused.

Lepcha, originally from Darjeeling, had moved to Bengaluru with the woman a month ago in search of work. The murder occurred after a heated argument early Sunday morning, during which the accused used a kitchen knife to slit the woman's throat, police said.
