Snake Sighting Triggers Brief Alarm at Government School in Fatehabad
A sudden scare unfolded at a government middle school located in Dult village within Fatehabad district when a snake was discovered on the premises. The incident caused a moment of panic among those present, but the situation was swiftly managed thanks to the quick actions of the school staff.
Prompt Response by School Authorities and Rescuer
According to school officials, the snake was initially observed near a recharge bore area on the school grounds. Upon noticing the reptile, the principal immediately contacted a trained snake rescuer to handle the situation professionally and safely.
The snake was later found trapped among bricks and stones adjacent to the bore, making it easier for the rescuer to locate and secure it. Navjot Singh Dhillon, the experienced snake rescuer, arrived promptly at the scene and successfully captured the animal without any harm.
Identification and Ecological Importance of the Snake
Dhillon identified the captured snake as an Indian rat snake, a species that is non-venomous and commonly encountered in agricultural fields and rural environments across India. He emphasized that this type of snake poses no direct threat to humans and plays a vital role in the ecosystem.
In his advice to the public, Dhillon stressed the importance of remaining calm and avoiding panic when encountering snakes. He strongly recommended contacting trained rescue personnel immediately rather than attempting to harm or kill the animal, as such actions can disrupt local wildlife and ecological harmony.
Safe Release and Environmental Awareness Message
Following the rescue, the Indian rat snake was carefully released into a suitable natural habitat where it could thrive without causing further disturbances. Dhillon used this opportunity to highlight the significance of every species in maintaining ecological balance, urging greater environmental awareness and respect for wildlife.
This incident serves as a reminder of the coexistence between human settlements and native wildlife in rural areas, showcasing how proper handling and expert intervention can prevent unnecessary fear and promote safety for all involved.
