SRK Pose by Impaired Student Wins Hearts at Mangaluru Quiz

Mangaluru Student's SRK Pose Creates Unforgettable Moment at Inclusive Quiz

A speech- and hearing-impaired student from SDM Mangala Jyothi Integrated School delivered a heart-warming performance at the Aloy Quiz-Whiz 2026 event in Mangaluru. During the Charades round, the student flawlessly enacted Shah Rukh Khan's iconic 'open arms' pose. The gesture sparked spontaneous cheers from the delighted audience, who applauded the student's remarkable confidence and expressiveness.

Teamwork Triumphs in Celebratory Moment

The moment turned truly celebratory when the student's teammates instantly identified the clue. This perfect example of communication beyond words highlighted the event's core values. Held on Sunday, the quiz celebrated diversity through its unique team composition. Each ten-member team included a visually impaired student, a speech- or hearing-impaired student, one government school student, and two private school students.

Inclusively Designed Rounds Engage All Participants

Organisers designed the quiz rounds to ensure full participation from every student. The Charades round allowed students to communicate through gestures. A Braille challenge specifically engaged visually impaired participants. A Kannada quiz honoured local roots and involved government school students effectively.

Other popular cues during the Charades round included Rani of Jhansi and footballer Cristiano Ronaldo's famous 'Siiuuu' celebration pose. Following the Charades, the Kannada quiz required teamwork as students who knew the language translated questions for their teammates. This approach encouraged coordination and mutual support among participants. The event then progressed to a Braille quiz round.

Event Coordinator Highlights Unique Approach

Neil Rodrigues, the event coordinator, shared details about the quiz structure. Sixty-two children participated, forming ten teams total. Three teams from each of the two semi-finals qualified for the final round. Rodrigues revealed an interesting twist about the final.

"In the final, we earlier announced five rounds but kept the sixth round as a suspense one," he explained. "The suspense round is unique, with clues presented in both Charades and Braille formats, requiring participants to guess the answer."

Focus on Inclusivity Over Conventional Knowledge Testing

Rodrigues emphasized how this quiz differed from conventional events. "The quiz stood out for its inclusive approach, bringing together specially-abled children and others as equal participants," he stated. Unlike typical quizzes that focus solely on knowledge, this event prioritized inclusivity and teamwork.

It encouraged children to overcome natural barriers and collaborate effectively. Rodrigues outlined the event's twin objectives clearly. First, organizers wanted to highlight the capabilities of specially-abled children, demonstrating they perform equally well in inclusive settings. Second, they aimed to sensitize young participants to differences, helping them interact confidently with differently abled people in future situations.
