A shocking incident of alleged brutality has emerged from a private school in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, where a teacher is accused of severely assaulting an 11-year-old student for failing to complete his homework. The family claims the child was hit on the head with a steel water bottle and repeatedly slammed against a wall.
Details of the Alleged Assault
The traumatic event is reported to have occurred on Saturday evening at the school premises. According to the child's kin, the teacher's fury over unfinished homework led to a violent physical attack. The assailant allegedly used a steel water bottle to strike the boy's head and then proceeded to bang him against a wall multiple times.
In a distressing turn, the victim's sister, who also studies at the same institution, witnessed the beating and tried to intervene. The family alleges that the teacher then turned on her and assaulted her as well for attempting to stop the violence.
School's Negligence and Child's Trauma
The kin have levied serious accusations against the school management for its handling of the situation. They state that the child returned home bleeding from the injury, but the school neither arranged any immediate medical treatment nor informed his family about the grave incident.
Furthermore, the family alleges that the school management attempted to suppress the matter from Saturday evening onwards. The aftermath has been devastating for the young student. He has been deeply traumatised, developing a high fever, refusing to eat or drink, and exhibiting intense fear at the mere mention of school. The child is currently undergoing treatment and is struggling emotionally, compounded by the humiliation of being assaulted in front of his classmates.
Police Investigation and Father's Vacillating Complaint
Rewa SDOP (Sirmour) Umesh Prajapati provided details of the police's involvement to TOI. He stated that the child's father initially approached the police with a complaint two days after the incident but soon retracted, stating he did not wish to file a formal complaint. The police asked for this withdrawal in writing, which he provided.
However, on Monday, the father returned to the police station with the same complaint. SDOP Prajapati has now instructed the police station incharge to obtain and review the CCTV footage from the private school premises. The police have confirmed that they are awaiting this footage and will decide the further course of action based on its findings.
This case has raised urgent questions about child safety, institutional accountability, and the mechanisms to prevent such alleged brutality within educational spaces in India.
