Blast Scare at Amritsar Police Station Turns Out to Be Burst Tyre

Panic gripped the area around the Majitha road police station in Amritsar on Saturday night after a loud explosion-like sound triggered rumours of a grenade attack. The incident occurred around 11:45 pm, causing alarm among residents, attendants of patients at the nearby Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, and passers-by.

As news of the blast spread, speculation mounted that alleged terrorists had targeted the police station with a grenade. Several people informed their relatives and acquaintances, leading to widespread concern in the area while media personnel also reached the spot.

At the time of the incident, Station House Officer (SHO) Rakesh Kumar was conducting vehicle checks at a naka a short distance away from the police station. Hearing the loud sound, he rushed to the location along with police personnel and initiated an investigation.

After a thorough inspection, the police found that the explosion-like sound had been caused by the bursting of the front tyre and tube of an old PCR motorcycle parked in the police station. SHO Rakesh Kumar confirmed that no explosive device was used and that the incident was purely accidental.
