UP Board Issues Alert on Cyber Fraud Targeting Students Ahead of 2026 Exam Results

As the evaluation process for the 2026 high school and intermediate examinations in Uttar Pradesh nears completion, the UP Board has issued a critical warning to students and parents. The board is urging vigilance against cyber criminals who are exploiting anxiety over upcoming results with false promises of mark enhancement.

Fraudulent Tactics and Official Clarifications

Board secretary Bhagwati Singh highlighted that fraudsters are actively contacting candidates and their guardians through phone calls, messages, or emails. These individuals often pose as board officials, claiming to have the authority to alter marks. "These criminals frequently demand money in exchange for supposedly enhancing marks and may even falsely assert access to the main database to gain trust," Singh explained.

He added that similar incidents were reported last year, underscoring the persistent risk this year. Singh clarified unequivocally that board staff never directly contact students for any mark-related requests, nor do they solicit payments for evaluation or results. This statement aims to dispel any misconceptions and reinforce official protocols.

Safety Measures and Reporting Procedures

To combat this threat, the board has advised students and parents to ignore any suspicious communication and refrain from sharing personal or banking details with unknown individuals. In case of such attempts, officials are urging immediate reporting through designated channels.

  • Contact the cyber helpline number 1930 for swift assistance.
  • Report incidents to the respective district school inspector for localized action.

The board has assured that, with police cooperation, stringent action will be taken against offenders under the Information Technology Act and the Indian Penal Code. "Remain alert, avoid responding to dubious calls or messages, and rely solely on official board channels for information regarding marks and results," Singh emphasized.

This proactive warning from the UP Board aims to safeguard students from financial and emotional exploitation during a stressful period, ensuring a secure and transparent results declaration process for the 2026 exams.
