Andhra Waqf Board to Build ₹15 Crore International School in Nellore
Waqf Board's ₹15 Crore International School for Nellore

In a significant move aimed at boosting educational access and generating sustainable income, the Andhra Pradesh Waqf Board has unveiled plans to establish the state's first international school in Nellore. The ambitious project, with an estimated cost of ₹15 crore, will be financed entirely through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions from various donors.

Project Details and Land Allocation

Board chairman Shaik Abdul Azeez provided specifics, stating that the school will be constructed on a 13-acre plot of waqf land belonging to the Jamia Masjid in Nellore. The land will be strategically divided to serve multiple purposes. A dedicated five acres will house the international school infrastructure. Another three acres will be reserved for facilities related to the mosque.

The remaining land will be developed for commercial use. The revenue generated from this commercial development is a cornerstone of the plan, intended to create a sustainable income stream for future waqf activities and broader community welfare initiatives.

Governance and Political Clarifications

Azeez clarified the administrative framework and addressed circulating rumours. He confirmed that the proposal was presented to Municipal Administration Minister Narayana, who has assured support in mobilising donors. However, Azeez strongly emphasised that the minister's role is strictly limited to donor facilitation.

"Narayana is only a donor facilitator. The Wakf Board alone will manage and administer the international school," Azeez reiterated. He firmly rejected any speculation about the privatisation of waqf assets and cautioned against the politicisation of such properties.

Vision for Inclusive Development

The chairman framed the initiative as a reflection of the government's vision for inclusive development and empowerment through education. He stressed that the project ensures waqf assets are utilised in a transparent and productive manner for the greater good.

Expressing gratitude to Minister Narayana for his support, Azeez highlighted the dual mission of the school: to provide world-class education while preserving cultural values. He stated that this endeavour would open up new academic and professional opportunities for students, particularly those from economically weaker sections of society.

The announcement was made in the presence of several dignitaries, including In-charge Mayor Roop Kumar Yadav, Karimulla, Mainuddin, Imtiyaz, Kalesh, and Riyaz.
