Wellington College International Pune Stages Spectacular 'Annie Jr.' Musical Production
The auditorium at Wellington College International Pune was alive with an electrifying atmosphere, brimming with dynamic energy, captivating music, and palpable excitement as talented pupils brought the cherished musical "Annie Jr." to the stage in a vibrant and memorable production. This event marked a significant creative achievement for the school community.
A Collaborative Effort Across Primary and Senior Schools
Pupils from both the Primary and Senior Schools joined forces to present a fresh and engaging interpretation of this timeless classic over three spectacular performances held from Thursday, 12th February to Saturday, 14th February 2026. This legendary production served as both a creative and technical milestone, challenging participants to demonstrate strong acting, vocal, and performance skills—a challenge they met with remarkable confidence and artistic flair.
Building on Past Success with Ambitious Goals
Following the success of last year's production of Disney's The Jungle Book Kids, the creative team aimed higher, delivering a more ambitious and musically demanding show. The production required extensive collaboration and dedication from all involved, pushing the boundaries of previous school performances.
Dedicated Faculty Guidance and Technical Excellence
These outstanding performances were made possible through the expert guidance of key faculty members:
- Mr. Olav Hekala, Head of Music, and Mr. Ashutosh Joshi, music teacher, provided musical direction and support.
- Mr. Allan McKeown, Head of Art, alongside Senior School pupils, designed and realized impressive sets that transformed the stage into a larger-scale visual experience.
- Ms. Prerna Khoda, dance teacher, choreographed dynamic dance sequences that captured the lively spirit of New York with an expanded cast.
- Mr. James Mullin, KS2 class teacher, skillfully brought the script to life through expressive dialogue and action.
Engaging School and Community Audiences
The first two performances were exclusively for the school community, fostering internal pride and camaraderie. The final performance welcomed audiences from across Pune, with the ensemble captivating viewers from start to finish with their polished execution and enthusiastic delivery.
An Annual Tradition of Creative Growth
This annual tradition of musical theatre continues to offer invaluable creative exposure and collaborative opportunities for pupils across both schools. With each production growing in scale and ambition, Wellington College International Pune looks forward to future performances that promise to be even bigger, better, and bolder, further enriching the educational experience through the performing arts.
