In a significant academic milestone, the Anand Agricultural University (AAU) celebrated the achievements of its students during its 22nd annual convocation ceremony held on Monday. The event marked a proud day for the institution as it formally conferred degrees upon a large batch of graduates poised to enter the agricultural sector.
A Celebration of Academic Excellence
The convocation saw a total of 589 students receive their hard-earned degrees. Among these graduates, 387 were undergraduate students, while 202 had completed their post-graduate studies. The ceremony was not just about degrees; it was also a moment to recognize extraordinary merit. The university awarded an impressive array of honors, including 13 gold medals, 77 gold-plated silver medals, and six cash prizes.
Adding to the prestige, special recognitions were also distributed. Three Chancellor's medals were awarded per faculty, and five Vice-Chancellor's medals were conferred upon standout scholars, highlighting the depth of talent nurtured at the university.
Governor's Call for Sustainable Agricultural Revolution
The chief guest for the occasion, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, used his address to deliver a powerful and timely message. He urged both the farming community and the new agricultural graduates to initiate a paradigm shift in farming practices. Governor Devvrat strongly advocated moving away from conventional chemical-based agriculture and embracing indigenous cow-based natural farming methods.
He emphasized that this transition is not merely an alternative but a necessity to restore the ecological balance and ensure long-term sustainability for the planet. His speech connected the graduates' academic knowledge with a pressing national and global need for environmentally conscious food production.

The convocation was graced by another eminent personality, Padma Shri awardee Dr. J M Vyas. Dr. Vyas, who serves as the Vice-Chancellor of the National Forensic Science University (NFSU), addressed the graduating class. His presence and words added a dimension of interdisciplinary inspiration, encouraging students to apply scientific rigor and integrity in their future endeavors within agriculture and beyond.
