BBAU Charts 'Viksit Bharat 2047' Roadmap, Leaders Stress Actionable Plans
BBAU Adopts Institutional Plan for Viksit Bharat 2047 Vision

In a significant push towards national development goals, the leadership of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) has declared that institutional development plans must transcend being mere documents and become actionable roadmaps. This call to action was central to the university's 30th-anniversary celebrations, aligning its future with the national vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047'.

From Document to Roadmap: A Call for Actionable Vision

Speaking during the inauguration of the three-day University Day celebration on Saturday, BBAU Vice-Chancellor Prof RK Mittal made a clear distinction. He stated that an institutional development plan should not be a static document but a dynamic blueprint that reflects the broader vision of a developed India by 2047. He confirmed that BBAU has already adopted such a forward-looking plan.

Prof Mittal reflected on the university's journey, describing it as "a strong process of academic, cultural, and social construction, in which ideas played a central role." This sets the stage for the next phase of growth, guided by a concrete and visionary plan.

Setting 22-Year Goals for a Developed India

Echoing the need for long-term planning, the chief guest, Prof K V Raju, Economic Advisor to the Chief Minister, addressed the gathering. He emphasized the collective responsibility to establish clear, farsighted objectives. "It is necessary for all of us to set clear, farsighted, and outcome-based goals for the next 22 years to realise the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047," Prof Raju asserted. This timeline directly correlates with the national target year, urging institutions to work backwards from that goal.

The guest of honour, Prof B Hanumaiah, a former vice-chancellor of BBAU, provided a historical perspective. He shared his experiences, tracing the university's evolution from humble beginnings with limited resources to its current stature. He highlighted the transformation into an institution with robust modern infrastructure, diverse academic programmes, quality research, innovation, and significant academic achievements.

Celebrating Three Decades of Progress and Accolades

The keynote speaker, Prof Furqan Qamar, former Advisor (Education) for the Planning Commission of India, encapsulated the university's three-decade journey. He listed key achievements that mark BBAU's development, including:

  • Quality education and robust infrastructure.
  • Excellent research output and diverse cultural activities.
  • The prestigious NAAC A++ accreditation and other high rankings.

These accomplishments, Prof Qamar noted, are a testament to the university's rich and sustained development journey over the past 30 years. They form a solid foundation upon which the new, action-oriented institutional plan for Viksit Bharat 2047 can be built.

The event collectively underscored a shift from retrospective celebration to prospective planning. The message from BBAU's leadership is clear: the path to a developed India by 2047 requires educational institutions to move beyond paperwork and commit to executable, visionary strategies that will shape the nation's future.
