Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi is all set to shake up the Indian mid-range smartphone segment with the imminent launch of the Redmi Note 15 5G. The official unveiling is scheduled for January 6 at 11 AM IST, and the device will debut alongside the Redmi Pad 2 Pro in a livestreamed event for viewers nationwide.
Display and Design: A Visual and Durable Powerhouse
The Redmi Note 15 5G is confirmed to sport a large 6.77-inch curved AMOLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. A standout feature is its claimed peak brightness of up to 3,200 nits, which promises excellent visibility even under harsh sunlight. The screen also supports Hydro Touch 2.0 and carries the TÜV Triple Eye Care certification for reduced eye strain.
In terms of build, the phone boasts an IP66 rating for dust and water resistance, offering protection against light rain and splashes. The design includes a distinctive square-shaped camera module on the rear, curved edges for a better grip, and a sleek profile measuring just 7.35mm in thickness. Powering the device is a substantial 5,520mAh battery with support for 45W wired fast charging. According to the brand, a single charge can deliver up to 1.6 days of usage. Notably, Redmi claims the battery is engineered to retain its performance for an impressive five years.
Camera and Expected Price in India
The photography department is headlined by a 108MP primary rear camera equipped with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and support for 4K video recording. Official teasers hint at the presence of at least one additional sensor on the back alongside an LED flash.
As for the cost, the Redmi Note 15 5G is expected to be positioned close to the ₹20,000 mark. This is in line with its predecessor, the Redmi Note 14 5G, which started at ₹18,999. However, rising component costs might lead to a slight price increase. The smartphone will be sold via a major e-commerce platform and Redmi's official website. A special Redmi Note 15 5G 108 Master Pixel Edition will also be introduced alongside the standard model.
