A dedicated team from the National Service Scheme (NSS) at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) embarked on a significant journey on Monday. Their destination is Manipur, where they will participate in the Government of India's Ashtalakshmi Darshan Youth Exchange Programme.
BHU Delegation to Showcase Uttar Pradesh's Heritage
The university has selected a 21-member delegation comprising students from various faculties and NSS units. Their primary role at the national programme will be to represent the rich cultural tapestry of their home state. The students are set to showcase the diverse cultural heritage, folk traditions, and social values of Uttar Pradesh, with a special emphasis on the region's famed Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb—a symbol of historical composite culture and harmony.
A Two-Way Learning Experience
This exchange is not just about presentation but also immersion. While sharing the essence of North India, the BHU contingent will gain firsthand exposure to the distinct socio-cultural diversity, lifestyle, and developmental perspectives of North-Eastern India. The programme is designed to foster mutual understanding, national unity, and social harmony among youth from different geographical regions of the country.
University Officials Extend Best Wishes
During the send-off ceremony, key university figures were present to encourage the team. Prof. Ranjan Kumar Singh, the Dean of Student Welfare, and Swapna Meena, the NSS Nodal Officer and Programme Coordinator, wished the students success. The officials emphasized that such initiatives are crucial for holistic development. They stated that the experience would significantly contribute to enhancing the participants' personality development, leadership skills, social responsibility, and sense of national consciousness.
The Ashtalakshmi Darshan Youth Exchange Programme stands as a vital platform for young Indians to build bridges across cultures, directly supporting the national objectives of unity in diversity.
