Bundelkhand University Unveils Major Solar Power Initiative in Jhansi
In a significant step toward sustainability, Bundelkhand University in Jhansi inaugurated a one-megawatt solar power plant on its campus this Friday. The ceremony was led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mukesh Pandey, who highlighted the project's alignment with standards set by the Renewable Energy Department.
Expected Benefits and Environmental Impact
The solar installation is projected to generate approximately 1,20,000 units of electricity each month. This output is anticipated to result in annual savings of around Rs 1 crore for the university, providing a substantial financial boost while promoting green energy.
Prof. Pandey emphasized the environmental advantages, noting that the plant will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 11,38,800 kilograms per year. This reduction significantly lowers the university's overall carbon footprint, contributing to broader climate change mitigation efforts.
