DAVV Executive Council Bans Unauthorized Land Allotment, Approves Key Budgets
DAVV Council Tightens Land Use Rules, Approves Funds

In a significant move to protect its assets, the executive council of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) in Indore has mandated that no university land can be allotted for any purpose without its prior and explicit approval. This decisive resolution was passed during the council's meeting on Monday, which also focused on research expansion, academic services, and campus accountability.

Land Allotment Controversy Addressed

The issue of unauthorized land use had been raised persistently by various teachers' associations and social groups. Educationists highlighted that over the past few years, multiple government and semi-government departments had occupied portions of the university's land for non-academic purposes without following proper procedures.

During the meeting, EC member A K Dwivedi, along with other council members, pointed to specific instances where land provided for public works did not see the completion of promised infrastructure. The council has now resolved to gather detailed facts and communicate with relevant authorities to clarify the status of these land parcels and ensure necessary action is taken.

Boost for Research and Digital Infrastructure

Academic research and collaboration were also central to the council's discussions. Vice-Chancellor Prof Rakesh Singhai presented a comprehensive overview of the university's research activities and funding. A key highlight was DAVV's role as a partner in the ANRF-PAIR SAKSHAM network, which is led by the Indian Institute of Technology, Indore.

To enhance academic services, the council approved a budget of Rs 12.60 lakh dedicated to online result processing systems. In a separate financial decision aimed at supporting digital learning, the council granted an approval of approximately Rs 34 lakh for the sustained maintenance of the university's campus-wide Wi-Fi network.

Convocation Date Finalized

In other official business, the executive council confirmed the date for the university's annual convocation. After receiving formal communication from the Raj Bhavan, it was decided that the convocation ceremony will be held on February 16, 2026.

The series of decisions taken during this meeting underscore the university administration's focus on tightening governance, protecting institutional resources, and investing in academic and digital infrastructure for the benefit of students and faculty.
