Prestigious Convocation Ceremony Marks Academic Milestone
The serene atmosphere of the Akshardham Temple auditorium in New Delhi provided the perfect backdrop for a significant academic celebration on November 25. Dr. K. N. Modi University from Rajasthan hosted its 8th convocation ceremony, bringing together distinguished guests, proud faculty members, and accomplished graduates for an event that highlighted educational excellence and future aspirations.
Distinguished Guests and Spiritual Presence
The ceremony gained significant prestige with the presence of Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari as the Chief Guest. The spiritual dimension was equally prominent with Pujya Dharmavatsaldas Swami Ji attending as Special Guest and Pujya Munivatsal Swami serving as Guest of Honour. The event commenced with traditional Indian rituals including lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana, creating an atmosphere of cultural richness and academic solemnity.
During his address to the assembled dignitaries, students, and families, Foundation Chairman and University Chancellor Prof. Dr. D. K. Modi reinforced the institution's unwavering commitment to quality education and women's empowerment. He particularly emphasized the university's focus on supporting rural and economically weaker students, ensuring that quality education reaches every stratum of society.
Academic Achievements and Future Plans
The academic prowess of the institution was showcased when Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. P. N. Hrishikesa presented a comprehensive report detailing the University's various initiatives, notable achievements, and impressive placement records. The convocation witnessed 19 scholars receiving Ph.D. degrees, marking a significant contribution to India's research ecosystem.
In recognition of academic excellence, 33 students each were awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals, totaling 99 medal recipients. The industrial sector received representation through Honorary Ph.D. degrees conferred upon industrialists Sanjay Gupta and Dheeraj Dhar Gupta. Notably, Dheeraj Dhar Gupta, Chairman of Abhishek Auto Group, was recognized for introducing India's first safety seat belts in 1985, while Sanjay Gupta was honored for his substantial contributions to education, innovation, and industry.
Ministerial Address and Institutional Recognition
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari congratulated all award recipients and expressed enthusiasm about the University's plans to establish a new campus in Modi Nagar. In his inspirational message to graduating students, he emphasized the importance of facing challenges with patience and acknowledged the crucial role parents play in shaping values and character.
The Minister specifically praised the University's Central Workshop, women-focused programmes, and FM Radio Ginni, highlighting the institution's comprehensive approach to education that combines technical skills with social awareness. His address resonated with the graduating students who later took an oath administered by the Registrar, pledging to serve both society and the nation with their acquired knowledge and skills.
The spiritual representatives added depth to the ceremony, with Munivatsal Swami lauding the Foundation's educational efforts while outlining the global spiritual and humanitarian work undertaken by the Swaminarayan Sanstha, which manages over 1,300 temples worldwide.
The ceremony concluded traditionally with the National Anthem, following a vote of thanks delivered by former AKTU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. R. K. Khandal. The proceedings were efficiently conducted by Capt. Rajeev Saxena, with attendance from Modi family members, senior dignitaries, directors, principals, faculty members, and media representatives, making the 8th convocation a memorable milestone in the University's history.
