IIM Calcutta Achieves Perfect Placement Record with Soaring Salaries
The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM C) has announced a remarkable 100% placement success rate for its MBA programmes this academic year, marking another stellar achievement for one of India's premier business schools. The institute reported that the highest domestic compensation package secured by a student reached an impressive Rs 1.5 crore per annum, while the top international offer stood at Rs 1.1 crore annually.
Placement Statistics Show Significant Growth
A total of 458 students participated in the comprehensive placement process, collectively receiving 542 offers from 202 recruiting organizations. This year's recruitment drive saw participation from 61 first-time companies, indicating expanding corporate interest in IIM Calcutta talent. While the highest domestic package remained consistent with last year's Rs 1.5 crore benchmark, the international package demonstrated substantial growth from last year's Rs 91.5 lakh per annum.
"The successful completion of Final Placements 2026 reflects on the resilience of our students and the continued trust that industry places in IIM Calcutta," stated IIM Calcutta director Alok Kumar Rai. "The diverse range of roles and sustained recruiter participation underscore the institute's commitment to academic rigour, industry relevance, and holistic development."
Compensation Metrics Reveal Upward Trend
According to official data released by the management school, the average annual compensation package reached Rs 36 lakh, showing a notable increase from last year's Rs 34.2 lakh average. The median salary for this placement season stands at Rs 35 lakh per annum, representing a Rs 1 lakh improvement over the previous year. The number of participating recruiters increased by 3%, demonstrating growing corporate engagement with the institute.
Sector-Wise Recruitment Breakdown
The consulting sector emerged as the dominant recruiter, extending nearly 206 offers to students. Boston Consulting Group led management consulting recruitment, while Accenture Strategy topped strategy consulting placements.
Living up to its reputation as the 'finance campus,' IIM-C continued its strong tradition in financial sector placements. Approximately 100 offers originated from prestigious finance domains including:
- Private equity and venture capital
- Investment banking
- Markets and asset management
- Wealth management
Prominent financial institutions participating in recruitment included Ambit, Arga Investment Management, Avendus, Bank of America, Citi, DE Shaw, Deutsche Bank, Edelweiss, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JP Morgan, Kotak Alternate Asset, and Kotak Mahindra Capital.
Marketing and General Management Domains Show Strength
Marketing and general management sectors accounted for 161 offers collectively. The placement committee noted noticeable growth in consulting and product management roles, with overall sectoral distribution largely mirroring previous year's trends.
Marketing domain recruitment featured participation from industry giants including:

- Colgate-Palmolive
- Dabur
- Glenmark Pharma
- Hindustan Unilever Ltd
- ITC
- Procter & Gamble
General management recruitment saw involvement from major corporate groups such as Aditya Birla Group, Airtel, Eternal, GMR, Godrej Industries Group, Reliance Group, and Tata Administrative Services.
Technology Sector and New Recruiters Expand Opportunities
The technology sector extended 72 offers through companies including Adobe, BrowserStack, Emergent, EXL, Google, HCL, HiLabs, Infosys Global, ITC Infotech, Microsoft, Ola, Salesforce, and Tekion India.
This year's placement season welcomed several new recruiters to campus, broadening the range of opportunities available to students. Notable first-time participants included Berger Paints, Cargill, DAMAC, Hero MotoCorp, Meesho, Merisis Advisors, Niva Bupa Health Insurance, and Snapmint.
