The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has kicked off its 2025-26 placement season with remarkable success, announcing that students have already received a staggering 1,275 job offers. This impressive figure includes a significant number of pre-placement offers (PPOs) from leading global corporations.
A Strong Start with Major Recruiters
According to the institute's announcement made on Monday, more than 1,140 individual students have been successfully placed so far. The placement drive has attracted a formidable list of top-tier companies, many of which have made double-digit offers, underscoring the high demand for IIT Delhi talent.
The roster of leading recruiters includes technology giants like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Oracle, alongside major financial institutions such as Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Barclays. Other prominent names making substantial offers are Accenture Strategy, American Express, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and Wells Fargo.
Professor Naresh V. Datla, who leads the Office of Career Services (OCS), expressed his satisfaction with the outcomes. He stated that the strong performance is a testament to the students' academic rigour, adaptability, and readiness to tackle industry challenges. He also extended gratitude to the recruiting partners for their continued trust in the institute's graduates.
Record Pre-Placement Offers and International Roles
A standout feature of this year's season is the surge in pre-placement offers. The campus received over 300 PPOs, marking a substantial growth of more than 33% compared to the previous year. This indicates that companies are increasingly identifying and securing talent through internships and projects well before the formal placement process begins.
Furthermore, the global appeal of IIT Delhi graduates remains strong. Students have secured over 35 international job roles in diverse regions including Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. The placement season is ongoing and will continue until the end of May 2026, with the OCS expecting more companies to participate in the coming phases.
Beyond Placements: IIT Delhi's AI Breakthrough with 'AILA'
While placements shine a light on career outcomes, IIT Delhi is also making significant strides in cutting-edge research. A collaborative team from IIT Delhi, along with partners from Denmark and Germany, has developed an innovative Artificially Intelligent Lab Assistant named 'AILA'.
Moving beyond conventional AI chatbots, AILA represents a major leap. This AI agent is capable of entering physical laboratories and autonomously conducting complete scientific experiments from start to finish, mirroring the work of a human scientist. The groundbreaking research has been published in the prestigious journal Nature Communications.
Indrajeet Mandal, the first author of the study and a PhD scholar at IIT Delhi, highlighted AILA's impact. "AILA helps me with my daily experimental tasks and speeds up my research progress significantly," he said. He provided a concrete example: a task that previously took a full day to optimise microscope parameters for high-quality images now takes AILA just 7 to 10 minutes.
This dual achievement—exceptional placement results and pioneering AI research—solidifies IIT Delhi's position as a premier institution that excels in both creating industry-ready professionals and pushing the boundaries of scientific innovation.
