Nauni Farm University Scholar Honored with Prestigious National Award
Anshul Kumar, a dedicated doctoral scholar at Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry in Nauni, Solan district, has been recognized with the esteemed Best Doctoral Dissertation Award at a recent national conference. This accolade highlights his significant contributions to the field of floriculture and landscaping.
Groundbreaking Research on Marigold-Based Gulal
Under the expert guidance of Bharati Kashyap from the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, Anshul completed his PhD with a focus on 'Studies on Storability, Physico-Chemical and Sensory Characteristics of Gulal Derived from Fresh and Dried Marigold Flowers'. His innovative research explores the development of herbal gulal, an eco-friendly alternative to synthetic colors, using marigold flowers.
Award Ceremony at National Floriculture Conference
The Indian Society of Ornamental Horticulture presented the award to Anshul during the ongoing National Conference on Floriculture and Landscaping @2047 Viksit Bharat, hosted at Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences. This event brings together experts to discuss advancements in horticultural sciences.
Collaborative Efforts and Commercial Viability
Anshul's research was conducted in collaboration with the CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology, resulting in a commercially-viable technology for producing herbal gulal. The department has already begun generating income through the sale of this sustainable product, showcasing its practical applications and economic potential.
