Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) on Tuesday declared the results of the undergraduate Semester VI examinations for the 2023-27 academic session, marking the first graduating batch under the four-year Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) introduced as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Result Declaration and Access
Vice-Chancellor Upendra Prasad Singh released the results on the university portal, allowing students to view their marks online. Examination controller Manoj Kumar stated that PPU is the only university in Bihar to announce final semester results within the stipulated academic schedule under the NEP framework.
Student Performance Statistics
Around 89,000 students appeared for the examinations across arts, science, and commerce streams. Of these, nearly 73,000 have been declared successful. Approximately 5,000 students will receive their final results after submitting mandatory internship certificates required under the NEP curriculum, while the remaining students have been promoted as per university regulations, Kumar said.
Eligibility for Postgraduate Admission
The results hold significance as students achieving a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5 are eligible for direct admission to postgraduate programmes under the new academic structure. According to university data, 19,619 students in the arts stream secured a CGPA of 7.5 or above. In science, 17,011 students achieved the benchmark, while the commerce stream saw the highest number, with 24,444 students crossing the threshold.
Multiple Exit Options
Students who failed to secure the prescribed 7.5 CGPA may opt to exit the programme and receive an undergraduate degree under the multiple-entry and multiple-exit provisions of NEP 2020, Kumar explained.
University Commitment
Upendra said the timely declaration of results reflected the university’s commitment to implementing NEP 2020 and ensuring students do not face delays in pursuing higher studies or employment opportunities.
PPU registrar Abu Baker noted that online publication of results would facilitate postgraduate admissions and help students plan their academic future without uncertainty.
