75 Years of Somnath Temple: PM Modi to Release Rs 75 Coin

The 75th anniversary of the consecration of the reconstructed Somnath Temple at Prabhas Patan will be observed on Monday, May 11. The original ceremony took place in 1951, with India's first President, Dr Rajendra Prasad, in attendance. To commemorate this historic milestone, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release a special Rs 75 coin, as confirmed by numismatists.

Official Notification and Coin Design

Sudhir Lunawat, a numismatist based in Gujarat, stated that an official gazette notification for the coin was issued on May 8. The coin will feature the Somnath Temple on one side, accompanied by the inscription: 'A celebration of 1000 years of India's unwavering faith and devotion,' with 2026 as the year of issuance. The coin will be minted by the Government of India Mint in Kolkata.

Availability for Collectors and Enthusiasts

Lunawat further mentioned that the commemorative coin will be made accessible to collectors, devotees, and history enthusiasts through the official website of the Government of India Mint. This release underscores the enduring spiritual and cultural significance of the Somnath Temple, which stands as a symbol of India's resilience and devotion.
