The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has unveiled the list of nominees for the prestigious National Sports Awards for the year 2024. In a significant announcement, Indian men's hockey team vice-captain Hardik Singh has been nominated for the country's highest sporting honour, the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.

The selection process was conducted by a committee chaired by the former Supreme Court judge, Justice A. M. Khanwilkar.

Other notable athletes recommended for the Arjuna Award are Pooja Hathwala (Wrestling), Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar (Shooting), and Antim Panghal (Wrestling). The committee's recommendations are based on performances from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023.
