The Himanshu Roy Foundation has officially launched the Himanshu Roy Legacy Awards 2026, calling for nominations from individuals and institutions nationwide. This prestigious initiative aims to honor those who exemplify courage, compassion, and excellence in their service to the nation, with a focus on ethical leadership and measurable social impact.

Commemorating a Legacy of Integrity and Service

Established in 2025, the awards pay tribute to the late IPS officer Himanshu Roy, who served with distinction in the Maharashtra cadre. Roy was widely revered for his unwavering courage, ethical standards, and dedication to public service. The foundation seeks to perpetuate his values by recognizing contemporary heroes whose work aligns with these principles.

Award Categories and Prizes

The awards will be presented in three distinct categories, each designed to celebrate excellence in critical areas of national importance:

  • National Security: This category honors officers, security professionals, and institutions dedicated to safeguarding the country. It acknowledges their vital role in maintaining peace and security.
  • Medicine & Healing: Recognizing doctors, researchers, and healthcare institutions, this category highlights advancements in medical care and patient welfare, emphasizing compassion in healing.
  • Indian Classical Music: Celebrating artistes and organizations, this category focuses on the preservation and promotion of India's rich classical music heritage, ensuring its legacy for future generations.

Each award includes a substantial cash prize of ₹5 lakh, underscoring the foundation's commitment to supporting and encouraging excellence.

Nomination Process and Timeline

Nominations opened on March 4 and will remain open until April 30, 2026. An independent jury will meticulously review all submissions in May 2026, with the awards ceremony scheduled for June 2026. This structured timeline ensures a fair and thorough evaluation process.

Bhavna Roy, Chairperson of the Himanshu Roy Foundation, emphasized that the awards aim to recognize individuals who uphold the highest ethical standards and make meaningful contributions to society.
