IIMCAA Awards 2024 Honors Media and Public Service Excellence in Delhi Ceremony
The 10th IIMCAA Awards ceremony, a prestigious event celebrating outstanding contributions across journalism, advertising, public relations, and public service, was held in Delhi during the inaugural session of the 14th annual Connections Meet. This gathering brought together alumni, media professionals, and senior dignitaries from India and abroad, marking a significant occasion in the media industry calendar.
Jury Awards Recognize Top Talent in Journalism and Communications
Under the Jury Awards category, top honors were announced, with Soumya Pillai being named Journalist of the Year, a highlight of the evening. Other notable winners included:
- Laxmi Devi Aere for Agriculture Reporter of the Year
- Safeena Wani for Print Reporting
- Medha Yadav for Broadcast Reporting
- Mohammad Asad for Producer
- Saurav Kumar Borah for Print Reporting in Indian Languages
- Alpesh Arvind Karkare for Broadcast Reporting in Indian Languages
- Tanzil Asif for Independent Journalist in Digital Video
- Hasleen Kaur for Ad Person of the Year
- Panchanan Mishra for PR Person of the Year
The Jury also conferred Special Mention Awards on Garima Singh, Nantha Kishore G K, and Gargy Satapathy. All awardees received cash prizes ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh, along with trophies and certificates, recognizing their dedication and impact in their respective fields.
Committee Awards and Lifetime Achievements Highlight Alumni Contributions
In the Committee Awards segment, Chandan Roy and Abhinav Pandey were honored as Alumni of the Year, celebrating their ongoing contributions to the IIMC community. Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to five distinguished individuals: Milan Vohra, Lipika Sud, Pradeep Kumar Mallik, Dr. Sangita Thakur, and Mitali Mohanty Ghosh, acknowledging their long-standing service and influence in media and communications.
Public Service and Connecting Awards Foster Community and Recognition
The Public Service Award recognized several individuals for their exceptional service, including Suresh Kumar Vashishth, IAS; Virendra Mishra, IPS; Kapil Sharma; Kumar Abhishek, CAPF; Prerna Prasad; and Ankita Sahoo. Further recognitions included Anand Kumar Dutta and Madhav Sharma as Connecting Alumni of the Year, with the Maharashtra and Bihar chapters named Connecting Chapter of the Year, and the IIMC Vicharaks’ Samosa Party receiving the Connecting Group of the Year award.
Pillars of IIMCAA and Special Felicitations Honor Legacy and Milestones
Under the Pillars of IIMCAA category, honors were presented to Prasad Sanyal, Ramesh Muniyappa, Manoj Kumar, Arvind Kumar, and Ezrela Dalidia Fanai posthumously, celebrating their foundational roles. MC Joshi was felicitated for completing 50 years since graduation, a milestone achievement, and 74 alumni were recognized with Silver Jubilee honors, marking 25 years of association.
The event also featured the release of a souvenir publication, adding to the commemorative nature of the evening. Organizers announced that chapter-level Connections Meets will be held in several cities in the coming months, extending the celebration and networking opportunities beyond Delhi.
