The grand national finale of the IndianOil Science Quiz 3.0, a pan-India intellectual spectacle, concluded with high energy on Friday at Mumbai's Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir in Bandra. This marked the successful third edition of the prestigious science quiz series, orchestrated by The Times of India.
Road to the National Stage
The journey to the ultimate showdown began with intense city-level rounds held across eight major Indian metros: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and New Delhi. The champion school from each of these cities earned the right to compete for the national crown in a fiercely contested finale.
A Day of Science and Celebration
A packed auditorium witnessed the event kick off with an enthusiastic participation of over 475 students from 50 different schools in a special 'Best of IndianOil Science Quiz 3.0' segment. The academic fervor was further amplified by an insightful lecture from IIT-Bombay professor Abhijit Majumder, who spoke on the pivotal role of scientific thinking in nation-building.
The main quiz, adeptly conducted by quizmasters Kunal Savarkar and Seema Chari, tested the finalists on a vast spectrum of subjects. Through multi-format questions, the participants navigated topics ranging from core sciences like physics and chemistry to geology, environment, sustainability, cutting-edge technology, and astronomy.
A Nail-Biting Finish and Worthy Champions
The competition remained exceptionally tight, with all teams staying in contention until the very last round—the decisive powered buzzer round. Displaying remarkable knowledge and quick reflexes, the duo of Devayudh Das and Iraj Singh from Delhi Public School Megacity, Kolkata, emerged as the national champions with a winning score of 96 points.
The runners-up spot was secured by Mitra Academy from Bengaluru, while Bhavan's Rajaji Vidyashram from Chennai claimed the third position. The event culminated in a prize distribution ceremony where winners and finalists were awarded trophies, certificates, and cash prizes. The dedicated teacher mentors of the teams were also felicitated for their guidance and support.
