The grand finale of the pan-India IndianOil Science Quiz 3.0, organized by The Times of India, concluded with high energy and intense competition on Friday. The national final was hosted at the Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir in Bandra, Mumbai, marking the successful third edition of this prestigious science quiz series.
A Nationwide Journey to the Finals
The road to the national stage was paved with competitive city-level rounds held across eight major Indian metros. These preliminary contests took place in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and New Delhi. The champion school from each of these cities earned the right to compete in the ultimate showdown for the national championship title.
An Event Packed with Science and Excitement
A packed auditorium in Mumbai set an electrifying tone for the finale. The event commenced with a special 'Best of IndianOil Science Quiz 3.0' segment, which saw enthusiastic participation from over 475 students representing 50 different schools. This was followed by an insightful lecture from IIT-Bombay professor Abhijit Majumder, who spoke on the crucial themes of scientific thinking and its role in nation-building.
The main quiz was deftly conducted by quizmasters Kunal Savarkar and Seema Chari. They challenged the finalist teams with multi-format questions spanning a vast syllabus. The rounds covered diverse subjects from core sciences like physics and chemistry to geology, environment, sustainability, cutting-edge technology, and astronomy. The contest was remarkably close, with all teams remaining in strong contention until the very last moment—the decisive powered buzzer round.
And the National Champions Are...
After a nail-biting finish, the team from Delhi Public School Megacity in Kolkata, comprising students Devayudh Das and Iraj Singh, emerged as the national champions. They secured victory with an impressive score of 96 points.
The first runners-up position was claimed by Mitra Academy from Bengaluru, while Bhavan's Rajaji Vidyashram from Chennai secured the second runners-up spot. All winners and finalists were awarded trophies, certificates, and cash prizes in recognition of their brilliant performance. The dedicated teacher mentors who guided these young minds were also felicitated during the ceremony.
The event underscored the vibrant enthusiasm for science among India's youth and served as a fantastic platform to celebrate knowledge, quick thinking, and academic excellence.
