In a significant achievement for India's veterinary sciences community, Dr Randhir Singh from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Gadvasu) in Ludhiana has been honoured with a prestigious international certification.
Elite Recognition at Continental Conference
The Asian Society of Veterinary Clinical Dermatology (ASVCD) conferred its esteemed De-Facto Specialist Certification (Diplomate) upon Dr Singh during the society's Seventh Continental Conference held in Bangkok. This elite distinction places him among a select few specialists in the entire region to hold such a credential.
The certification formally acknowledges Dr Randhir Singh's sustained and scholarly contributions to the field of companion animal dermatology. It also recognises his pioneering work in the niche area of veterinary hemodialysis, an advanced extracorporeal therapy.
Leadership Role and Continental Impact
The conference was a major gathering, attracting top clinician-scientists from across Asia, including representatives from nations like South Korea, Japan, China, and Vietnam. Beyond the certification ceremony, Dr Singh's peers elevated him to a leadership position.
He was nominated as the vice-president of ASVCD-India. This appointment is expected to strengthen Gadvasu's role in shaping dermatological standards and promoting translational research collaborations across the continent.
Institutional Pride and Future Prospects
University leadership hailed the accomplishment as a milestone that enhances the institution's global standing. Vice-chancellor Dr J P S Gill described the recognition as a testament to Gadvasu's unwavering commitment to global academic excellence and innovation-driven animal healthcare.
Dean Dr S S Randhawa noted that this distinction reaffirms the university's leadership in advancing highly specialised veterinary disciplines. Director of clinics Dr J Mohindroo emphasised that Dr Singh's expanded international footprint will directly translate into improved specialised clinical services and diagnostic sophistication for patients at the Ludhiana campus.
Dr Randhir Singh's unique expertise effectively bridges the gap between traditional dermatology and cutting-edge medical therapies. His new role on the ASVCD executive council is poised to foster valuable cross-continental collaborations. This will help channel the latest evidence-based clinical sciences directly to the Punjab region, benefiting both the veterinary profession and animal patients.
