Krishna Shukla, the chief freight traffic manager for North Eastern Railway in Gorakhpur, has received a major national honor. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw presented him with the Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Award for 2025. The ceremony took place in Delhi on January 9.

Minister Praises Contributions During Maha Kumbh

During the award presentation, Minister Vaishnaw specifically highlighted Shukla's valuable contributions. He noted Shukla's dedicated work and effective management during the massive logistical operations for Maha Kumbh 2025. This religious gathering in Uttar Pradesh presented significant transportation challenges that Shukla helped navigate successfully.

A Distinguished Career in Indian Railways

Krishna Shukla comes from Basti and completed his postgraduation from Lucknow University. His railway career spans several important positions across North Central Railway. He has served as divisional traffic manager in Tundla, senior divisional safety officer in Agra, and senior divisional operations manager in both Jhansi and Prayagraj.

Shukla has pursued extensive professional development throughout his career. He underwent specialized high-speed rail training in China. He also completed leaders in urban transport training programs in both Singapore and Korea. Additionally, he earned a master's degree in management from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.

Previous Honors and Personal Achievements

This is not Shukla's first recognition within the railway system. He previously received the General Manager's Award back in 2013. Last year, in 2024, he was honored with the Vishisht Rail Seva Award. The 2025 Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Award represents the highest level of this recognition.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Shukla maintains an active personal life. He is an accomplished athlete who excels in multiple sports. He regularly participates in swimming, running, and badminton. These activities demonstrate his commitment to physical fitness alongside his demanding professional responsibilities.
