In a grand ceremony marking the New Year, the Telangana government has recognised the exceptional dedication and courage of its police force by awarding medals to a total of 630 personnel. The awards, distributed across several categories, honour acts of bravery in combating extremism and organised crime, as well as decades of distinguished service.
Top Honour for Intelligence Excellence
The state's highest police award, the TG Mukhyamantri Sarvonnata Police Pathakam, was conferred upon Intelligence Sub-Inspector Manish Kumar Lakhani. He was recognised for his distinguished and long-time services within the intelligence department. Along with the prestigious medal, Lakhani received a substantial cash grant of Rs 5 lakh.
Recognising Acts of Extraordinary Bravery
The Shourya Pathakam, awarded for conspicuous bravery, was presented to seven police officers. Their courageous acts were primarily displayed during high-risk operations. A significant number were honoured for their bravery while performing anti-left-wing extremism work.
This group includes Mulugu DSP N Ravinder, intelligence inspector G Thirupathi, Grey Hounds SP J Raghavender Reddy, assistant assault commander J Ravi, and junior commandos AV Sudhakar and B Nandulal.
In a separate act of valour, Nalgonda CCS head constable G Vishnu Vardhan was awarded the Shourya Pathakam for his bravery during the arrest of two armed members of the notorious Parthi gang on the outskirts of Hyderabad in July 2024.
Honouring Dedicated Long-Term Service
For their unwavering commitment over the years, 16 police officers received the Mahonnatha Seva Pathakam. The recipients include Nizamabad SI S Santhosh Reddy, Karimnagar additional DCPs M Bheem Rao and P Venkata Ramana, Warangal ACP A Madhusudhan, Cyberabad additional DCP S Ravi Kumar, and RSI G Ashok from the Intelligence wing.
Further recognising service across various tiers, the government awarded the Uttama Seva Pathakam to 94 personnel, the Katina Seva Pathakam to 53 personnel, and the Seva Pathakam to a significant 459 police personnel.
The awards ceremony underscores the state's commitment to acknowledging the risks and sacrifices made by its police force in maintaining law and order, combating terrorism, and ensuring public safety. It serves as a powerful morale booster, highlighting that extraordinary service and courage do not go unnoticed.
