Lucknow Celebrates International Women's Day with Prestigious Awards Ceremony
To mark International Women's Day, Lucknow hosted the esteemed ‘Times Women of Eminence 2026' awards on Sunday, recognizing the courage, perseverance, and outstanding achievements of exceptional women from across Uttar Pradesh. The event, a joint initiative by The Times of India and NBT, aimed to spotlight women's accomplishments and their empowering roles in society, fostering inspiration and recognition.

Governor Anandiben Patel presided over the ceremony, felicitating women who have made remarkable contributions in diverse fields. The programme commenced with the national anthem, followed by a ceremonial welcome for the Governor, setting a tone of national pride and respect for the honorees.

The awardees of the ‘Times Women of Eminence 2026' include a wide array of achievers:
- From Lucknow: KGMU vice-chancellor Prof Soniya Nityanand, Arjuna awardee Rachna Govil, architect Vipul B Varshney, and educator Pooja Agarwal.
- From Varanasi: Arts and culture achiever Poonam Rai, the ‘Green Brigade' comprising Nirmala, Leelawati, Asha, and Shashi Lata for women empowerment, educator Bharti Madhok, social worker Anjali Agarwal, and doctor Smita Tandon.
- From Kanpur: Writer Anjali Tiwari and entrepreneur Manika Gupta.
- Sports Achievers: Anshika Yadav from Gorakhpur, Zainab Khatun from Meerut/Ghaziabad, Geeta Sharma from Bareilly, and Kavita Yadav and Khushboo Nishad from Prayagraj.
