Aamir Khan-Rajkumar Hirani's Dadasaheb Phalke Biopic Delayed, Script Still in Works
Aamir Khan-Hirani's Dadasaheb Phalke Biopic Delayed

For quite some time, the Bollywood industry has been abuzz with speculation about superstar Aamir Khan and acclaimed director Rajkumar Hirani joining forces for a biographical film on the legendary Dadasaheb Phalke, widely regarded as the father of Indian cinema. Recent reports had suggested that the ambitious project was scheduled to commence filming this March, but it now appears those plans have been significantly delayed.

Script Development Still Underway

In a recent interaction, Aamir Khan shed light on the current status of the film, indicating that the script is still being meticulously crafted. The actor expressed his profound respect for Dadasaheb Phalke, stating, "I have immense respect for Dadasaheb Phalke. I do know some of his life because of the research that Raju has done, and he has told me about it." However, he clarified that the narrative has not been fully finalized yet, adding, "I'm not sure if the script has been fully cracked yet, as he's still working on it."

Awaiting Director's Final Decision

Aamir emphasized that his involvement ultimately hinges on the quality of the final screenplay. He explained, "Ultimately, it all depends on how the final script shapes up, so I'm waiting for Raju to take that call." The actor also praised Hirani's collaborative spirit, noting, "He's a great person to work with." If this project materializes, it will mark the third collaboration between the duo, following their highly successful films 3 Idiots in 2009 and PK in 2014, both of which achieved critical and commercial acclaim.

Event Context and Social Initiative

Aamir Khan made these remarks during a conversation at golfer Amit Luthra's 18th Invitational Fundraiser Tournament 2026, held in Chembur. The actor took the opportunity to commend the Golf Foundation's efforts in promoting the sport among underprivileged children. He highlighted the challenges of making golf accessible, stating, "What the Golf Foundation is doing is wonderful. Golf is often called an elitist sport because it's very expensive... you need courses, infrastructure, equipment, gloves and so much more. Children from economically weaker backgrounds usually don't get a chance to play."

This delay in the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic underscores the careful approach both Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani are taking to ensure the film does justice to the iconic figure's legacy. Fans and industry observers will have to wait patiently as the creative team continues to refine the script before production can begin.
