Following the triumph of Thandel, Telugu filmmaker Chandoo Mondeti is escalating the stakes for his upcoming project. The director has orchestrated a casting masterstroke by enlisting Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and acclaimed actor Rana Daggubati for a high-octane historical thriller.
Pan-India Spectacle in the Making
Set against the ancient city of Ujjain, the film is described as a contemporary thriller deeply rooted in history, designed as a pan-India cinematic event. A source close to the production shared with Hyderabad Times, “Akshay Kumar has given his nod and Rana Daggubati is officially on board. Chandoo has spent months researching the subject, and the project is now in the pre-production stage. This is being mounted as a major pan-India spectacle.”
Present-Day Story with Historical Depth
The source further elaborated, “It is a historical thriller set against the backdrop of Ujjain. But historical doesn't mean it's a period film — it is a present-day story with strong historical references. An official announcement is expected in June.”
This collaboration marks a significant milestone for Chandoo Mondeti, who gained recognition with Thandel. The involvement of Akshay Kumar and Rana Daggubati underscores the film's ambitious scale, aiming to captivate audiences across linguistic and regional boundaries. With pre-production underway, the project is poised to become one of the most anticipated releases in Indian cinema.
