Ameesha Patel Confronts Non-Bailable Warrant in 2017 Event Dispute Case
Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel finds herself embroiled in renewed legal turmoil as a court in Moradabad has issued a non-bailable warrant against her. This judicial action stems from a protracted dispute related to a 2017 event, where the actress allegedly failed to honor multiple court summons, compelling the authorities to take this stringent measure to ensure her appearance.
Origins of the Legal Conflict: A Wedding Event Gone Awry
The case originates from a formal complaint lodged by event organizer Pawan Verma. According to the complaint, Ameesha Patel was contracted to perform at a wedding ceremony scheduled for November 16, 2017. As part of the agreement, an advance payment of Rs 14.50 lakh was transferred to the actress, and comprehensive arrangements for her accommodation were meticulously finalized at a prominent hotel located on Delhi Road in Moradabad.
However, the event took an unexpected turn when Ameesha Patel did not arrive in Moradabad on the designated date. Following this no-show, discussions ensued between the parties, during which the actress reportedly assured the organizer of a complete refund of the advance amount.
Allegations of Partial Refund and Cheque Bounce
In his submission to the court, Pawan Verma detailed that while Rs 10 lakh was eventually returned in cash, a subsequent cheque for the remaining Rs 4.50 lakh allegedly bounced. This payment discrepancy led Verma to seek legal recourse, initiating the court proceedings that have now culminated in the issuance of the non-bailable warrant.
The Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division) court had issued repeated summons to Ameesha Patel, but her consistent non-appearance prompted the judicial authority to escalate the matter. The warrant is intended to legally compel her presence before the court to address the allegations and participate in the ongoing legal process.
Defense Claims Settlement and Resolution Years Ago
In response to these developments, Ameesha Patel's legal representative, Abhishek Sharma, has presented a contrasting narrative. Sharma asserts that the dispute, which dates back to 2017, was already resolved amicably through a mutual settlement agreement. He maintains that the full payment was refunded in accordance with this settlement, and the matter should have been considered closed.
The defense counsel has further alleged that the complaint is being misused, expressing confidence that Ameesha Patel will appear before the court to present her version of events and clarify the situation.
