Veteran Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, an icon known as the 'angry young man' of Indian cinema, frequently delights fans with glimpses into his illustrious career. In a recent revelation, the megastar shared a behind-the-scenes story from the sets of his 1978 film 'Ganga Ki Saugand' that showcases a moment of pure panic, far removed from his on-screen fearless persona.
The Terrifying Horse Ride Over The Ganga
While filming a scene in Rishikesh for the movie 'Ganga Ki Saugand', the director instructed Amitabh Bachchan to ride a horse across a bridge. The actor confessed that the sight of the mighty Ganga River flowing far below filled him with absolute terror. In a moment of sheer nervousness, he instinctively began to sing the Ganga aarti, a devotional prayer to the sacred river.
"There was a scene, which was shot in Rishikesh. Our director said, 'You will sit on a horse and ride over that bridge'. And, I saw the Ganga River down there, and immediately started singing aarti for the river," Bachchan recounted. The story took a humorous turn when he revealed his next action. "While singing, I kicked the horse. It ran and crossed the bridge. I was saved," the actor concluded, much to the amusement of the audience. This candid confession was shared during a promo for the popular quiz show he hosts, 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'.
