Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor took a trip down memory lane as the iconic comedy classic 'Biwi No. 1' completed 27 years since its release. The actor, who played a supporting role in the film, shared a heartfelt note on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), recalling his experiences and the lasting impact the project has had on his life.
Anil Kapoor reflects on his bond with Salman Khan
In his post, Anil Kapoor revealed that the film strengthened his friendship with Salman Khan over the years. He wrote, 'Some films feel special, even as you're making them. 'Biwi No. 1' was truly one such film. A role that was originally portrayed by Kamal Haasan, it gave me a season full of awards, a friendship with Salman that only grew stronger, and Tabu!' The actor also highlighted that both of his collaborations with Tabu turned out to be blockbuster successes and continue to be loved by audiences even after decades. He added, 'Two films together, two blockbusters, both still living rent-free in people's hearts even after 27 years... That's pretty precious in my books!'
The magic behind 'Hai Hai Mirchi'
Anil Kapoor also shared an interesting anecdote about the popular song 'Hai Hai Mirchi'. According to him, singer-composer Sukhwinder Singh spontaneously came up with the track during a flight. Recalling the moment, Kapoor wrote, 'And then there was Sukhwinder Singh, who created 'Hai Hai Mirchi' spontaneously during a flight. That's the kind of magic this film was made of.'
Why 'Biwi No. 1' is trending again
Even after 27 years, 'Biwi No. 1' is back in the headlines due to David Dhawan's upcoming film 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai'. The filmmaker has recreated songs like 'Chunnari Chunnari' and 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' for the new project. However, the recreated version of 'Chunnari Chunnari' received mixed reactions from audiences online. Additionally, reports of a copyright and intellectual property dispute between Tips Films and producer Vashu Bhagnani have also grabbed attention. Meanwhile, the trailer of 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' has sparked curiosity among moviegoers, who are eager to see if the film can recapture the charm of classic David Dhawan entertainers.
The chemistry and comic timing of the cast remain one of the key reasons why 'Biwi No. 1' is still remembered as one of David Dhawan's most entertaining films. With its blend of humor, memorable performances, and iconic songs, the film continues to hold a special place in the hearts of fans.
