Animal Park Sequel Teased as 'War Between Brothers' by Sandeep Reddy Vanga
Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has revealed intriguing details about the highly anticipated sequel to his blockbuster film Animal, titled Animal Park. During a special screening of Animal in Japan ahead of its release on February 13, both Vanga and lead actor Ranbir Kapoor shared their excitement about the upcoming project.
Ranbir Kapoor's Enthusiasm for the Dual Role
Ranbir Kapoor expressed his eagerness to return to the character, stating, "I can't wait to get back on set with Sandeep and play this character!" He revealed that Vanga had the story for Part 2 clearly mapped out even during the filming of the first installment. "Because it is a continuing story, he had the story of Part 2 also very clear in his mind while filming Part 1. It's very exciting and inspiring for me as an actor," Kapoor added, noting that they continuously discuss and refine ideas for the sequel.
Vanga's Vision for Animal Park
Sandeep Reddy Vanga, currently occupied with post-production of his upcoming film Spirit starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, confirmed that work on Animal Park will commence soon after completing his current project. He elaborated on the sequel's premise, highlighting Ranbir Kapoor's dual roles as Aziz and Ranvijay, which were teased in Animal's post-credit scene.
"There will be more animals as Aziz is another animal," Vanga explained. "Keeping that in mind, it will be a war between the two brothers now, who look alike. So I thought Animal Park will be the right title." He announced that shooting is scheduled to begin in mid-2027, building anticipation among fans.
Background and Context of the Original Film
Animal, released in 2023, emerged as one of the most successful post-Covid films at the box office, grossing nearly Rs 900 crore worldwide. Despite its commercial success, the film sparked significant debate online, with critics accusing it of showcasing gory violence and promoting toxic masculinity. This controversy has only heightened interest in how the sequel will address or evolve these themes.
Upcoming Projects for the Stars
While Vanga focuses on Spirit, Ranbir Kapoor has several high-profile projects in the pipeline:
- Ramayana: A mythological epic featuring a star-studded cast including Yash, Sunny Deol, and Sai Pallavi.
- Love And War: A romantic drama directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
These projects ensure that both director and actor remain at the forefront of Bollywood's cinematic landscape as they prepare for Animal Park.
