Anurag Kashyap Dismisses Epstein Files Mention as 'Random Email'
Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has issued a strong denial of any involvement or association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, whose case has regained global attention following the release of investigation documents by the US Department of Justice. Kashyap's name recently surfaced in the infamous Epstein Files, sparking widespread speculation and online debate.
Unverified Documents Circulate Online
According to unverified documents that have been widely shared across social media platforms like Reddit and X, Kashyap is allegedly referenced in an email as the "Bollywood guy" and a "Famous Bollywood director" who was purportedly involved in an event linked to Epstein, scheduled to take place in Beijing in 2017. This has led to a flurry of discussions, with Indian film personalities, including filmmaker Mira Nair earlier, being drawn into the controversy.
Kashyap's Categorical Denial
In response to these claims, Anurag Kashyap has categorically denied any connection to Epstein or the alleged event. Speaking to Hindustan Times, he stated, "I've no clue about this. I get invitations as a speaker, about 15 a month. I rarely respond. Also, I have never been to Beijing in my life!" He further questioned the credibility of the material, adding, "It's some random email, that's self explanatory. The click baits in my name are more popular than my films."
Social Media Reactions and Public Speculation
The circulation of Kashyap's name in the screenshot has triggered varied reactions on social media. One Reddit user humorously commented, "Is this Epstein's files or Chitragupt's accounting book? Everyone's in there. Afraid someday my name may show up somehow." Another user urged focus on more serious allegations, saying, "So many wealthy or influential people participated in Epstein's criminal activities itself, that list is huge, let us go after them. Let us not go for those who were merely invited to these events."
