These comments ignited intense debate across social media platforms, drawing both support and backlash from various quarters. The discussion has brought renewed focus on the legendary composer's illustrious journey and his standing in Bollywood.
AR Ameen on the Creative Process With His Father
Amid the ongoing public discourse, Rahman's son, AR Ameen, has spoken candidly about his professional relationship with his father and his efforts to establish his own identity in the music world. While promoting his latest musical release, Ameen opened up in an interview with Filmygyan about what it's like to work alongside the Oscar-winning maestro.
When asked if his father ever scolds him during their collaborations, Ameen replied with a smile, "He always scolds me." He elaborated on the creative dynamics behind their recent project, stating, "But the process of making this song was very special. A big thanks to Jasleen—her voice is amazing. The texture of her voice added so much warmth to the song. My dad and I are working together and producing it. We added an Afrobeat vibe, and thanks to Irshad Kamil ji, who penned such beautiful lyrics for this."
Carving His Own Path in Music
Reflecting on his career trajectory and the inevitable comparisons with his father's monumental legacy, AR Ameen maintained a grounded perspective. He acknowledged, "My dad's legacy has reached a place no one can imagine. I think I am starting my own small journey. I have a long way to go, with a lot of work and commitment ahead. I want to put my heart and soul into it. Right now, I'm just focused on that."
Defending His Father Amid Backlash
Following the significant backlash over Rahman's comments regarding limited opportunities in the Hindi film industry due to what he described as "communal" factors, AR Ameen publicly came out in strong support of his father. Through his Instagram Stories, he referred to Rahman as a "legend for life" and asserted that his legacy is "written forever in the books."
Ameen shared a video showcasing his father performing with international star Ed Sheeran and also posted content featuring Marvel's Iron Man, symbolically underlining that Rahman's contributions to music are indelible and cannot be diminished. Additionally, he addressed what he termed "baseless" rumours concerning his parents' marriage, urging the public to respect their privacy and dignity. He expressed that it was "hurtful" to witness such misinformation being circulated.
