Arista Mehta: From Child Artist to Baramulla Star

From Shimla's Streets to Mumbai's Film Sets

Actress Arista Mehta, who recently captivated audiences as Noorie Sayyed in the film Baramulla, has opened up about her remarkable transition from being a child artist in Shimla to establishing herself in Mumbai's competitive entertainment industry.

The Emotional Journey to Mumbai

"Honestly, there were a lot of mixed feelings because I was moving away from a place I grew up in to a place I would probably build a career in," Arista recalls. The move to Mumbai wasn't initially driven by her acting ambitions but rather due to her father's business requirements. However, the vibrant city quickly won her over, and it was during her exploration of Mumbai that she discovered her true passion for acting.

Balancing Education and Early Career

Juggling academics with her acting pursuits presented significant challenges for the young artist. "I feel balancing my studies with work has always been something that was very tough for me because I wasn't a scholar. Doing both simultaneously while working was really difficult," she admits candidly.

Television: The Foundation of Her Craft

Having begun her career in television, Arista credits the medium for fundamentally shaping her as an actor. "Television will always be special to me as it basically taught me how to act. I never really learnt it from anywhere but actually by just working," she explains. While television provided her foundational training, the actress has moved forward in her career journey and doesn't anticipate returning to television in the near future, though she remains open to exceptional opportunities that could enhance her craft.

Looking Ahead: Comedy and New Horizons

As she plans her future projects, Arista expresses particular interest in exploring lighter genres. "I would love to do something in the comic zone because I feel it's one of the most difficult parts to pull off," she reveals, indicating her desire to take on more challenging and diverse roles.

The Baramulla Experience

Reflecting on her recent film Baramulla, Arista describes the experience as particularly memorable. "It was a very interesting experience as the story was different from the usual. Shooting in Kashmir was special, and preparing for Noorie's dialect and emotional depth was something I worked on closely with the director." Her dedication to authentic character portrayal shines through in her approach to this significant role.
