Speaking to Hindustan Times, a source clarified: "The rumours about Atlee being roped in to direct Don 3 are completely false. He has not been approached for the project in any capacity and has no connection with the franchise."
The speculation gained traction largely due to the massive success of Jawan and the much-discussed creative partnership between Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee. In a 2023 interview with Hindustan Times, Atlee spoke warmly about working with the superstar. He described the experience as transformative.
"I learnt a lot from Khan sir—patience, precision, and how to elevate a film to the next level," Atlee had said at the time. "He taught me how to raise the bar. My next film will have even better energy, and we'll aim to make something bigger than Jawan."
