Babloo Mukherjee's Heartfelt Confessions on Marriage and Family Estrangement
Renowned television actor Babloo Mukherjee, currently starring in the popular serial 'Gharwali Pedwali', recently participated in a deeply personal interview where he candidly discussed the significant challenges and emotional struggles he has faced throughout his life. In a conversation with journalist Vickey Lalwani, Mukherjee, the son of the late legendary star Keshto Mukherjee, opened up about his past relationships, marital failures, and the painful estrangement from his children, providing a rare glimpse into his personal journey.
Early Marriage and Regrets with First Wife Lovely
Babloo Mukherjee revealed that he entered into his first marriage at the tender age of 17, a decision heavily influenced by his mother's request. He wed a woman named Lovely, and the couple resided with his mother and brother. Reflecting on this period, Mukherjee admitted that he was largely unaware of how to navigate marital dynamics and responsibilities. He attributed the breakdown of the relationship to his own shortcomings, stating, "My mistake is basically I could not give time. I could not be a romantic."
He elaborated on the difficulties of maintaining intimacy while living in a joint family setup, where privacy was scarce. Over time, he recognized his errors, acknowledging the necessity of romance and closeness in a partnership. However, by then, Lovely had begun to distance herself and eventually demanded a divorce, marking the end of their union.
Estrangement from Children and Custody Issues
From this marriage, Babloo Mukherjee fathered two children: a daughter now living in Vietnam and a son based in Los Angeles. He disclosed that he has had minimal contact with them over the years. During the divorce proceedings, Lovely gained custody, and Mukherjee described his futile attempts to visit them every Sunday, only to be denied access. He recalled, "When I used to go, she would not bring the children in front of me."
This led to a gradual fading of connections, with Mukherjee believing his children did not wish to stay in touch. Recently, he reconnected with Lovely, but she informed him that their children harbor resentment due to alleged affair rumors she shared with them. Mukherjee expressed confusion and hurt over this, questioning the basis of their animosity.
Second Marriage to Poonam (Anita Carol)
Following his divorce, Babloo Mukherjee remarried in 1992 to Poonam, also known as Anita Carol. The couple has remained together since and does not have children from this marriage. This relationship stands in contrast to his first, highlighting a more stable chapter in his personal life.
This interview sheds light on the often-hidden personal battles of celebrities, emphasizing themes of regret, family dynamics, and the long-term impacts of early life decisions. Babloo Mukherjee's story serves as a poignant reminder of the complexities behind public personas.
