Badshah Receives Death Threat from Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Over Controversial Song
Singer-rapper Badshah has been issued a death threat allegedly by members linked to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, escalating tensions just days after his latest song 'Tateeree' sparked widespread controversy over its lyrics. The threat comes amid intense scrutiny from authorities and public backlash.
Gang's Facebook Post Warns of Violent Consequences
A purported Facebook post attributed to individuals associated with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi directly warned the rapper of severe repercussions. The post referenced an earlier incident at a nightclub owned by Badshah, stating, "Singer Badshah, you have tried to ruin the culture of Haryana. We showed you the trailer in your club in 2024; next time we will shoot you directly in head." This chilling message has raised alarms about the rapper's safety.
Controversy Over 'Tateeree' Song Lyrics
The threat emerges as Badshah faces mounting criticism over the Haryanvi music video 'Tateeree', which has been accused of containing objectionable references to women and minors. The song's content has drawn ire from various quarters, leading to formal complaints and legal actions.
Haryana Women's Commission Directs Police Action
On Saturday, the Haryana State Commission for Women took a firm stance by directing police to arrest Badshah after he failed to appear before the panel within the stipulated deadline. Commission chairperson Renu Bhatia had earlier warned that strict action would follow if the singer did not present himself by 3 PM on Friday. The commission had issued a notice on March 6, summoning him to appear in Panipat to address complaints regarding the song's lyrics and visuals.
Reference to 2024 Nightclub Explosions
The threat also alludes to a 2024 incident when low-intensity explosions occurred outside two nightclubs in Sector 26, with one of the venues owned by Badshah. Hours after the blasts, gangster Goldy Brar—a close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi—claimed responsibility through a Facebook post. Police reported that the explosions, believed to have been caused by crude bombs, resulted in limited damage and no injuries. Investigators detailed that two men on a motorcycle threw the devices outside the clubs at around 3:14 AM, damaging a glass door, with CCTV footage capturing the incident.
