Badshah's Haryanvi Track 'Tateeree' Ignites Controversy and Legal Action in Haryana

A major controversy has erupted in Haryana following the release of rapper Badshah's latest Haryanvi song, 'Tateeree', with the Haryana Commission for Women summoning the artist and police in two districts registering First Information Reports (FIRs). The song, which launched on March 1, has faced swift backlash over allegations of indecent content and unauthorized use of state property.

Police Cases Filed in Panchkula and Jind Over Song and Video

Legal action has been initiated against the song and its creators. The cybercrime police station in Panchkula registered a case against the track and unidentified accused, while Jind Police named Badshah directly in its FIR. This followed a complaint from the Haryana Roadways department, which objected to the unauthorized depiction of one of its buses in the music video.

Rahul Jain, General Manager of Haryana Roadways, stated clearly: 'We did not provide any bus for the shooting of the song.' Officials emphasized that using the department's bus and name without permission is a punishable offence, and they are seeking strict action against the singer.

Haryana Commission for Women Summons Badshah for Clarification

The Haryana State Commission for Women has stepped into the fray, summoning Badshah to appear before them in Panipat on March 13 to clarify his position. This intervention came after a complaint from a Panipat-based non-governmental organization (NGO). The NGO alleged that the song promotes obscenity and indecent language, shows a marked lack of respect for women and minors, and features inappropriate punchlines.

State Government Investigates Unauthorized Use of Public Property

The Haryana government has also taken cognisance of the matter. State Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda confirmed that an investigation is underway to identify the specific bus and depot used for the shoot. 'We are investigating how a state-owned bus was used in this manner,' Dhanda said, highlighting concerns over the misuse of public assets.

Controversy Centers on Lyrics and Music Video Depiction

The core of the controversy revolves around two main issues:

  • Alleged Indecent Lyrics: Critics claim the song's lyrics are obscene and disrespectful, particularly towards women and minors.
  • Unauthorized Bus Scene: The music video shows schoolgirls in uniform dancing atop a Haryana Roadways bus with 'Jind Depot' written on it, which authorities say was done without permission.

This incident underscores ongoing debates in India about artistic expression, cultural sensitivity, and the legal boundaries of content creation in the digital age.
