Bengali Film and TV Fraternity Announces Memorial Walk for Rahul Arunoday Banerjee
The Bengali film and television industry has come together in a powerful show of solidarity, announcing a memorial walk scheduled for April 4 to honor the late actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee. This collective action aims to demand justice and accountability following his tragic passing.

The solemn walk will commence from Technician Studio and conclude at Radha Studio, symbolically connecting key hubs of the industry's creative and technical workforce. Organizers have called for a three-hour suspension of all film and television shoots to enable maximum participation from actors, technicians, producers, and other stakeholders.

In a unified appeal, the fraternity has addressed several major industry bodies, including the Eastern India Motion Picture Association (EIMPA), the Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India (FCTWEI), the West Bengal Motion Picture Artist Forum (WBMPAF), and television serial producers. The core demands are clear: a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the incident, citing alleged safety protocol violations, and fair financial compensation for Banerjee's grieving family.
The appeal has garnered significant support from prominent industry figures. Notable names backing the initiative include music director Indraadip Das Gupta, lyricist and poet Srijato Bandyopadhyay, actors Abir Chatterjee, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Rana Sarkar, and Rudranil Ghosh, as well as acclaimed directors Srijit Mukherji and Arindam Sil.
Industry Leaders Voice Their Anger and Concerns
Director Arindam Sil, in an emotional statement, expressed deep frustration with the handling of the situation. "This is being treated like child's play. The way this is being handled is absolutely abysmal," he stated. "Stern action must be taken against the production house for clear negligence. I have a long history of mismanaged and poorly planned shoots by this particular production entity."
Sil also revealed that he had contacted Priyanka Sarkar, likely a close associate or family representative, to join the walk but was uncertain of her emotional readiness. He emphasized that, in his view, an FIR (First Information Report) should have been filed much sooner and indicated that legal action is pending based on the production house's response to official queries.
"Life cannot be taken for granted. The Artists' Forum has given the production house 24 hours to clear all doubts about the accident. If they fail to provide satisfactory answers, stern action will be taken," Arindam Sil asserted.
Echoing the call for transparency, lyricist Srijato Bandyopadhyay framed the march as a peaceful demand for answers. "We deserve to know what truly happened on set that day. This march is a peaceful call for answers and accountability—so that no other family ever has to endure such a devastating loss again," he said.

The West Bengal Motion Pictures Artists' Forum (WBMPAF) released an official statement highlighting serious concerns. The forum noted that conflicting accounts from the production team in the days following the accident have only deepened the mystery and raised alarm.
