Amitabh Bachchan Reveals Astrological Reason for Agastya Nanda's Ikkis Delay, Fan Asks About Dhurandhar
Big B cites astrology for Ikkis delay, fan asks about Dhurandhar

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has revealed that astrological advice, and not the box office storm of Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar, is behind the rescheduling of his grandson Agastya Nanda's debut film Ikkis. The film, initially set for a Christmas release on December 25, 2025, will now hit theatres on January 1, 2026.

The Astrological Announcement

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, Amitabh Bachchan posted in Hindi, explaining the date change. His post loosely translated to: "IKKIS was initially scheduled for the twenty-fifth (25th), but will now be on the twenty-sixth (26th), on the first (1st); Some astrologers said, 'Brother, it's a good omen, keep going, just keep going!!'" This candid revelation shifted the narrative from widespread speculation that the move was a strategic retreat from the unstoppable Dhurandhar wave.

Fan's Curious Query and Trade Perspective

In the comments section of Big B's post, while many extended their best wishes for Agastya's debut, one fan posed an interesting question. The fan, after praising the announcement, asked, "By the way, have you seen the recently released film 'Dhurandhar'?" They went on to recommend the Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna-starrer, highlighting its powerful performances and box office success.

Meanwhile, noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh pointed out the business acumen behind the shift. He noted that producer Dinesh Vijan has a history of smartly moving release dates, citing examples like Hindi Medium (2017) and Chhaava (2024). Adarsh stated that with Dhurandhar continuing its rampage and James Cameron's Avatar arriving on December 19, the move to January 1 gives Ikkis a clear solo release window with assured prime shows.

Significance of the Film

Ikkis holds special significance as it marks the final big-screen appearance of the legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away in November 2025. The film also introduces Simar Bhatia, niece of Akshay Kumar, alongside debutant Agastya Nanda. The project is closely watched as Agastya, son of Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Nikhil Nanda, steps into the spotlight under the keen support of his iconic grandfather.

The industry and fans alike now await to see if the astrologically advised date of January 1, 2026, will indeed prove to be an auspicious beginning for the newest star from the Bachchan family.
